WALPOLE —

The fact that the state’s minimum wage law is a boost to so many low-income families struggling to get by is completely glossed over by a June 18 letter, (“Minimum wage hikes biggest obstacle for teenagers finding employment”).

Three out of every four workers earning the minimum wage are adults age 20 or older, according to statistics from the Economic Policy Institute.

And close to half of those workers are full-time employees.

Those aren’t kids looking for a summer gig; those are people with families to feed and bills to pay.

The minimum wage law helps to close the growing gap between higher and lower income families in Massachusetts.

Don’t use teenagers looking for a summer job as an excuse to take that away.
