Certain organizations have made announcements to our members that 'A' time will be a viable option for anyone desiring spring and summer time off - without pay of course. 'A' time simply means absent without permission NOT TO BE PAID.
This membership BETTER NOT USE THIS OPTION! We do not condone 'A' time, and if you value your job you will ignore any offer from management. The demise of the operators started with V.T. (voluntary time unpaid). The company then tallied up this time at years end and found out, surprise surprise, they could do without a certain number of people, since they'd been functional without them during the year. Time off without pay is unacceptable. It eliminates 'AP' time as well as erodes the workforce.
Unless this time is negotiated with the union IT IS NOT TO BE TAKEN. YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR YOU'RE AGAINST US. We must band together to oppose any who would, for their own purposes, feed into the company's attempt to highlight the ability of a group to function with less than a full workforce. The job you eliminate could be your own. WE, AS UNION MEMBERS DO NOT TAKE 'A' TIME!!!
